Who is Required to Register with the FSSAI?

Documents Required for FSSAI Basic Registration

Validity & Renewal of FSSAI License

After approval of the food license From FSSAI usually, it is issued with a validity of 1 year- 5 years.

Before expiry, the license can be renewed for 1 year to 5 year as the case may be, not later than 30 days before the expiry date shown in the license. Any renewal application filed exceeding the due date shall be followed by late charge of Rs. 100 per day for each day of delay.

Fees for FSSAI Registration

FSSAI registration fees are three types :-

  1. Basic Registration: Rs. 100 p.a.
  2. State Registration: Rs. 2000-5000 p.a. (state-wise variation exists)
  3. Central Registration: Rs. 7500 p.a.

Penalty for Not Registering FSSAI License

A food business operator (FBO) who run their business without registering under FSSAI may face imprisonment and an FSSAI license penalty of up to 5 lakh for the same.
